Well, we have been back in Orem since September. A lot has happened. My sweet mom passed away on November 12th. I sure miss her everyday. My granddaughter got baptized, and things are going very well for us. We are still not sure when we will be going back to Hounduras, we are just waiting to hear the word. They found a new piece of property so time will tell. We still have our beautiful apartment in Honduras and a lot of our things are still there. Dennis is working is Salt Lake on the church history building. He can't wait to get on his own job, so this tempel can't start soon enough for him, but we are happy to be home.

Off to Mexico City

Well, the Hondurans are dragging their feet so much on the permit that the Church is spending alot of money keeping me here with nothing happening, so there's been a change, we're going to Mexico City so I can help the Owners Agent there with that temple. The Church has added millions of dollars in changes to that Temple so I can go there and not waste money on the Honduras Temple account.

Mexico City is the largest city in the world, it has a population of right around 20,000,000 people. It has two volcanoes that are snow capped year round. The elevation of Mexico City is 7,500 feet (about the same as Park City) The climate is fairly mild and the temperature varies between 40 and 75 - 80 degrees on average. We will be staying in a Temple missionary couple apartment which seems fairly nice. The apartments are in a compound on the Temple property. Melody and I aren't too excited to have to leave our neat little apartment here in Tegucigalpa but the Lord knows what He's doing. We'll probably be leaving around the 27th of February and could be there anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months.

We Arrived

We're here in Honduras. We have a really neat apartment on the third floor with a huge patio that has a 210 degree view of the city. It is really beautiful here. Dennis is studying the job specifications while the city is taking their sweet time issuing the buidling permit. The Catholic church is very powerful in Honduras and they don't relish the idea of a Mormon temple being in direct line of sight of their Basilla de Suyapa. The Virgin de Suyapa is their main idol here and Cathoics defend her with fervor.

Melody is really homesick. We are trying to get the web cam hooked up and hopefully that will help alleviate a little of her homesickness.

Driving here is quite an experience. We rented a Toyota Corolla in order to get from place to place until we get our permanent vehicle.

Church here is the same as everywhere else but really noisy. The floors are all tile and the walls are concrete so noise just bounces all over the place. It would be nice to have as much reverence in the meetings as we have in the states.

Mel and I are trying to get our work visas so we can stay in the country for the 2 plus years we need to be here. That continues to be somehwat of a challenge but I'm sure we'll get it done.

Melody and I went to the main museum downtown with Sergio (our friend) and his girlfriend.l Mel tripped over an unmarked ramp that was only about 3" tall and disappeared into the floor pattern. She cut her finger pretty bad, bruised it real good and also bruised her leg pretty bad. She is much better now and her finger is healing well.

The language is really a frustrating issue for Mel down here. She is starting to take Spanish lessons this Thursday and hopefully that will help a little. It's really difficult for here because I understand everything more or less and she doesn't understand much of anything. I'm sure the Lord will bless us in our endeavors.
